Summer 2024

Wetherby Lions continues to support to local people and community groups that need our help.  We have recently supported young people seeking to broaden their horizons and held our annual Senior Citizen’s Party event which gave lunch, entertainment and company to over 180 elderly people.

We continue to recruit new and active members with our commitment to diversity being reflected in our leadership team, with two women holding senior positions.

Lions recently completed a scent garden at Martin House Children’s Hospice and helped finance two fire engines for use in Ukraine.  Our work is heavily focussed locally but we are part of the world’s largest service club which is usually the first to deliver aid when disaster strikes; often through Lions clubs within the affected area.

I am really pleased to be working with Wetherby Riverside Bandstand Trust to deliver ‘Wetherby Drovers Brass Band Marching Contest 2024’.  This will see 18 bands marching through the town providing great entertainment on Sunday 9th June 2024.

Wetherby Lions are open to those who want to help us as we serve our community and have a good time socially whilst doing so.
