Wetherby District Lions, with the assistance of the Lions Club Foundation of the British Isles, have been able to provide funding for laptops for students who are being educated at home during the COVID-19 crisis.
Lion President Tim Ritson said: “This is a significant sum of money that we are putting to good use straightaway. This Coronavirus pandemic is hurting lots of local people in many different ways - just because we are all social distancing doesn’t stop us from caring - we are doing what we can and this cash injection will help us do more.”

Wetherby High School Young Enterprise students successfully developed a starter package aimed at children to help them to create a ‘bee friendly’ garden. It was called the ‘Weather Bees’ and included a recycled plant pot, soil, bee mix seed ball, honey and an educational sheet. The product and its development plans were submitted for a Young Enterprise award.
The final judging took place online on 6th May 2020 with the students from Wetherby High Schools facing tough competition from across Yorkshire.

Unfortunately due to the coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride 2020 event has been cancelled for this year and is now scheduled to take place on Saturday 19th June 2021.
For those already registered with the event, your place is still valid although you will need to re-register to confirm your place; we are hoping you are still available to take part.

Our third community ‘Cheque Presentation & Fun Quiz Nite’ took place on 21st February 2020 in Wetherby Town Hall. Funds collected from our Christmas activities were donated to many organisations in the local Wetherby and district communities - many helped us at the Dickensian Christmas Market and on our Santa Sleigh. These groups included:- Tewit Silver Band, Parkrun UK, Tockwith Motor Sport for 'Ontrack Community Initiative', Crossley Street School.

They were dancing in the aisles as Christmas made a welcome return to Wetherby at a weekend in late January with the town’s elderly residents belatedly getting into the festive spirit.
Some 200 senior citizens' gathered at Wetherby High School to be entertained at the annual Wetherby Lions organised event, which put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces.
Thanks to generous support from Sir Robert Ogden, Morrisons and Bon Bon's Chocolates, the guests revelled in a social environment which included a lavish meal prepared by Wetherby Ward Councillor (and the Chef - Patron) Cllr Alan Lamb, a 60s Singalong with Trevor Woodhead on the keyboard, a bingo session and prize raffle.
