Lions have given a donation to the Old Men’s Parliament to enable them to install a water supply in their premises in the Peace Gardens, North Street, Wetherby.
John Trower, a member of the Old Men’s Parliament, requested some financial assistance with their latest project, installation of running water in the premises where they meet on a weekly basis. Presently they have to carry water from a nearby shop. The running water installation will help them have more tea and make it a lot easier.
At the Club meeting on Monday 7th December regretfully, members of Wetherby Lions said farewell to Lion Jenny Wade, who is moving to be with her daughter at Brompton by Sawdon, near Scarborough. Her committee Chairman, Lion Stewart Reid, marked the occasion with a gift of a designer handbag and flowers (see the photo attached).
Lion Jenny came to our Club as a transferee from a Club on the Isle of Wight, where she held many offices, including President. She was Chair of the Welfare/Donations Committee for several years, where she did an excellent job in organizing and distributing Christmas gifts to the elderly in the community, as well as being a leading light in the organization of our annual Senior Citizens’ lunch.
