Wetherby Lions were privileged to receive a visit at this week’s meeting from District Governor Lion Andrew Kerr Sutherland.

DG Sutherland travelled south from Edinburgh to witness the handing over of a £5,000 cheque to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance - the Wetherby Lions’ chosen charity - as a result of May’s Beer Festival in the town.

Receiving a commemorative Wetherby Lions pennant from Lion President Tim Ritson, DG Sutherland paid tribute to the local efforts, saying: “This is what the Lions are all about - service to others.  We are all Lions for different reasons but with one common aim - to be of service to our communities. Wetherby clearly does this very well.”

Thanks to Danny at Carr's Tyres at Thorp Arch for fitting the new tyres to Wetherby Lions fundraising trailer.  Lewis Hamilton would have be proud of our 'slick' tyres ! !

Great job done in quick time whilst we waited and all at a great price.

Lion President Presents Cheque to Yorkshire Air Ambulance

It was a hearty “Cheers!” to the Wetherby Lions when the organisation handed over a cheque for £5,000 to its chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The windfall came as a result of the Lions-backed Wetherby Beer Festival, which was a 'roaring' success when it came to town back in May.

The Lions’ latest cheque made out to the YAA brings the total donated from its annual festivals down the years to more than £35,000.   And the YAA’s Jenny Jones, on hand to receive the cheque, paid tribute to the Lions’ efforts, s...

As a thank you to Past Lion President John Boulton, Lion members had prepared an 'Album of Memories' in recognition of the two years of presidential service that he gave to Wetherby Lions.
