It’s the Belly Dancers……practising a modern style of belly dance this American Tribal Style Belly Dance was inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and India. It seems that there is no choreography, each dance is improvised. The dancers learn moves and cue these in formations, communicating together through their movement…Wow !
Karuna Tribal Belly Dance is a new American Tribal Style troupe based in York, this is their first performance of the year together and we are very excited to have them here at the Wetherby Festival. They will be dancing to some very traditional music - as well as to a few pieces you might recognise !
Steph Baker is a professional solo acoustic artist from Boston Spa, Wetherby who plays a range of popular covers, particularly specialising in ‘pop & folk’; including covers of Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd, Norah Jones, Oasis and Amy Winehouse. Not to be missed.
Besides performing for us at the Beer Festival she also performs professionally at pubs / bars / restaurants as well as weddings / private parties and events, able to cater to an audience of any age. She is also a professional vocal coach who teaches locally, training her students to be better singers and performers. Come and speak to her about this at our Beer Festival.
The first Wetherby Beer Festival took place on 4th July 2009. This year’s event takes place on 30th May 2015 and will be held at St James’ Church Rooms Wetherby commencing at Noon.
This year’s event is once again in support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and we aim to bring the total that we have raised for them to £10,000!
This year will see the introduction of a ‘prosecco bar’ and a ‘cider bar’ and will feature 20 Yorkshire beers. We are happy to welcome back the solo singer ‘Olivia’ and the guitar duo ‘Lucy and Jo’; plus local entertainers and lots of family fun.
