What do three craft breweries, an award winning museum, a popular wildlife park, one of the country’s bloodiest battle sites and the capital of Romanised Brigantes have in common? They are all on the “Barnsley to Bedale via Wetherby” journey undertaken on his bike by Wetherby Lion Nigel Keenlyside to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. “It proves that not only do I have the stamina to complete a cycling route through the spine of Yorkshire, but how important our county is historically and culturally,” says Nigel.

And the beer? “Very significant,” explains Nigel.“ On May 24th and 25th Wetherby Lions stages its Beer Festival, a popular annual community event in the town. All the money raised goes to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. This year we have chosen beers along the stage 2 route of this year's 'Tour de Yorkshire' bike race, which, coincidentally, starts in Barnsley and ends in Bedale.”

If you wish to sponsor Nigel (all amounts are most welcome) you can make a donation through http://tinyurl.com/y6ev677a or you can meet him and hand over the money in person at the Wetherby Thursday Market held on 2nd May 2019. All proceeds of the event will go to the Lions chosen charity, Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Now, to make the annual Beer Festival an event to remember, everyone with a bike ride, bus journey or simply a walk is urged to come along and enjoy the finest beers the great county of Yorkshire has to offer - there are also prizes to be won. You can purchase you entry tickets here Cheers!
