Morrisons' 'Community Fun Quiz Nite'
Organiser Mark overseeing the 'quizzes' at Morrison's community 'Fun Quiz Nite'
Wetherby Lions were proud to support Mark, the Community Champion from Morrisons, in their inaugural ‘Community Fun Quiz Nite’ at Wetherby Town Hall.
Ten eager quiz teams, whose knowledge was tested by the fiendish Question Master Lion Ken, sat down for a fun packed evening The event was held to benefit Morrisons PLC's official charity of the year ‘CLIC Sargent’ which supports children living with cancer and their families, read more about them here https://www.clicsargent.org.uk
Round one had the ‘quizzers’ scratching their heads and frantically conferring as they tried to deduce answers from history, literature, sport, science and every possible subject in between. Other rounds stretched their knowledge of popular entertainment and childhood favourites.
The interval saw two teams ‘neck and neck’, however fortified by a hot pizza the winning team" Clueless" drew ahead to beat strong contenders including a group from Wetherby Festival, Bramham Primary School PTA, the 'Old Men's Parliament' and their partners and several groups of staff from the local Morrisons store.
A charity raffle followed with a generous £100 donated by Dean Buckle of the ‘Bike Shack’ as top prize and a delicious hamper of 'Morrisons' treats as second prize; other prize supporters were 'Spice 4U', 'Wetherby Film Theatre' and 'Sant' Angelo'. A bar staffed by Wetherby Lion members made sure no one went thirsty and raised further funds, bringing the total raised on the evening to a resounding £300 for CLIC Sargent.
Mark drew the event to a close by thanking all who had contributed.
