With members of the public encouraged to observe the Remembrance Sunday two minutes’ silence on their doorsteps, Wetherby was much quieter than usual on this solemn occasion. This was just one other aspect of the restrictions brought about by the pandemic.

However, it was permissible to lay wreaths at the war memorial and pictured here is Wetherby Lions President Tim Ritson paying respects on behalf of our organisation.

Other wreaths were laid at the cenotaph on behalf of the town by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire; Alex Shelbrooke, MP; Cllr Neil O’Byrne, Town Mayor of Wetherby; Edna Hilditch BEM, President of Wetherby & District Royal British Legion and Major Tom Smith, Chairman of Wetherby & District Royal British Legion.
