It was once again 'raining money' recently at our second 'Community Cheque Presentation Evening' held on 17th September 2018 at The Bridge Hotel and Spa, Walshford .  Lion members were pleased to support a number of local organisations in their great work they undertake by giving various financial contributions.  They were: 

• £300 was presented to The Wetherby Riverside Bandstand Trust to help with covering the costs of two brass bands this summer who give such enjoyment every week at The Bandstand in The Riverside Car Park;

• Wetherby Athletic Junior Football Club under 10's girls were in need of some training tops ready for the new season so we were delighted to help keep them warm and dry with £800 towards the cost of kitting out the squad;

• once again supported CLICK Sargent with £360, this time to help with travel costs for a local family who has a child with cancer that needs ongoing specialist hospital treatment; 

• The Salvation Army within the grounds of Wetherby High School are a unique facilitator for students with dyslexia , autism and other complex needs by offering specialist reading books but needed to increase their library.  So with our help of £500 we hope they can ! 

• A 'good friend' of the Club is Wetherby Arts Festival with both community groups helping each other at various events.  As a result we were pleased to offer £350 to support an event in the Arts Festival week which we hope is a major success for them.

 

So a great night for a Wetherby District Lions business meeting; so many special local people.
