By raising awareness and empowering men and their families with the knowledge to make informed choices, we supported in helping in the early detection and treatment of this disease.

Support for this local non profit voluntary group who provide much needed support to people in our community.  They assist with food, household essentials and advice. They  also support those fleeing domestic violence.

We supported our international colleagues at Lions Clubs International Foundation who provided major grants to local clubs who collected essential items (food, toiletries, medical supplies) for affected communities, focusing on immediate needs and long-term rebuilding.

Support for Mason House members in the form of Gift Cards for food and drink for their monthly meetings and for their Christmas festive activities.

Supporting the socialising of the more mature men of Wetherby and their Christmas hamper scheme for the community.

Support for a local Guide who is attending a Guide event aimed at young people aged 16-22 as part of the Girlguiding North East England contingent.  She will join 5000 guides from across Europe for an exciting jamboree. 

Support for Wetherby Musical Theatre Group's recent production of  "Guys & Dolls" at the Wetherby Engine Shed.

Support for the annual outing of members of Mason House for a day trip to Barnsley Market in a York Pullman coach.

Lions supported the local Wetherby junior rugby league 'Bulldogs' teams with the purchase of new equipment.

Support of the Lions International Youth Exchange program was implemented to grant young people the opportunity to live with a family or families in a foreign country of their choosing. The purpose of which is to gain an understanding of the customs, history and culture of a people different from their own.

Lions supported a member of the local community with a replacement cooker for herrecently provided property by the local Council.

The Boston Spa & Wetherby Big Bike Fix take in donated bikes that are no longer needed, fix them up and donate them to children and adults around the Leeds area who cannot afford to buy one.

Support for 'The Brass Brigade' school with the purchase of instruments  that sees Year 4 and 5 students have the opportunity to learn a brass instrument in the school environment. 

Support for refurbishment of local Wetherby BMX track.

Support for the building of a 'DEN', a sensory area with a 'bubble wall' and an interactive cinema/theatre for movies.

Support for a Man With A Pan, a community-led project that enables men over fifty have fun picking up and practising basic cookery skills.

The Lions were pleased to support the Wetherby Whalers ESU local youth group on their latest expedition abroad.

The Lions were pleased to provide a motorised wheelchair for a local resident who was having difficulty getting out of her house.  She now enjoys local events in the town with her friends.

Support for a new Sanctuary Garden to be located outside of The Sanctuary (the Chapel) and will be a semi-private garden.  it will provide an opportunity for the families to take some further time for reflection and remembrance.

Support for Wetherby Weir Preservation Trust with two new benches at the Riverside community facility.  The benches are in memorial to two Lion members who have  'past to higher service'.

Our support for Ukraine continues with the purchase of a fire engine for a small town of Volodymyr where fighting equipment has been remove to major cities.  The local mayor has made a desperate plea for the fire engine.

Support for Tina and her colleagues at the Riding for the Disabled Association.  A new pony called Robbie to enable riders to enjoy the outdoors and the company horses.

Support for ‘Life Without Limits’, a group for girls in their teens and twenties with disabilities and complex needs, who rely on structured groups and carers to facilitate their socialising.  A grant was given to secure venue hire for a year to help get the group up and running.

Support for world wide toilet twinning project. Wetherby becomes a 'Toilet Twinned Town' following community support of 33 toilets twinned toilets including some toilet blocks.

Support for Turkish and Syrian earthquake victims, monies given to Lions UK for transfer to the Lions Clubs of Turkey and Syria.

Lions are saying 'thank you' to Claire Wiggins.  Claire, despite having severe disabilities, raises money for charity and in lockdown is making 'Pamper Hampers' for members of the community, for GPs, nurses and even carers, full of handmade items and a range of useful products.

Lions have replaced the seats down on the Riverside that are in remembrance to Lion members who have passed to 'higher service'.

Lions are saying ‘thank you!’ to carers who work tirelessly to look after relatives and friends.  and have produced forty vouchers that will be distributed to carers redeemable at The Fox & Hounds (Walton) or The Bay Horse (Kirk Deighton). The vouchers can also be used to buy groceries from their shops

There are few things better than receiving a Christmas hamper, filled to the brim with favourite seasonal treats! Thanks to the community spirit in Wetherby, a large number of deserving families received such a gift this Christmas. Local councillor, Dean Buckle (The Wetherby Bike Shack), his wife Mally and members of the Old Men’s Parliament have joined forces with Morrison’s Supermarket;

Christmas was different this year, however where would it be without Bramham’s traditional Community Christmas Lunch?  The Village Hall Committee provided lunch for anyone who found themselves isolated or alone on Christmas Day.   

At the request of Leeds City Council’s Children’s Centres and the Salvation Army (Wetherby), Lions donated towards a very successful Christmas Toy Appeal.

Wetherby Athletic Girls U6s & U7s is new group to encourage girls to play football. They normally play indoors however due to COVID-19 they are staying outdoors.  Lions provided the hoodies and jackets for the girls.

Lions helped East Keswick Parish Council to refurbish playing grounds and to replace old children’s tower unit. 

The Beirut Disaster in Lebanon prompted a request for support from Lions International, Wetherby Lions responded.
