Wetherby 'Wharefdale Shield' Darts Tournament

To be held on 28th April 2018 at Wetherby District Social Club

 

A new event in the Lions Club calendar.  This is an 'all comers' event so whether you are a keen pub team, a group of workmates or just a group of friends this event has your name written all over it.  Ladies teams too please; or mixed if you prefer.

Taking place on Saturday 28th April 2018 with a prompt 6.00 pm oche start at the Wetherby District Social Club on Sandbeck Way (LS22 7DN for those of you with sat nav), the evening promises great John Smith beers and good food all at great value prices.

                                                                                                                             

The competition will follow the traditional darts guidelines; the format of the matches will be:-

• Teams will be of 5 players only;                                                                   (Click to download poster)

• The evening fee £25 per team (paid in advance) will go towards a Lions Charity;

• You need to register beforehand with Rory @ either 01937 574213 or 0845 8339529;

• The start will be two groups of teams all playing each other within the group to produce two top teams – the top two teams in each group will play off in the semi-final to produce two finalists;

• The group matches will be straight in from 301 and the double finish will be from two darts only.  If this is not achieved after each team has thrown the two sets of three darts then it will be nearest the bull to produce a winning result;

• In group matches each match from each group will play from two boards side by side;

• The semi-final and final competition will be straight in from 501 with a double finish;

• There will be a scorer and referee at each game played whose decision if needed will be final;

• The final winning team will be presented with the 'Wharefdale Shield' to keep (safely please) for one year together with glass plaques for the winning team members;

• The loosing finalists team will each receive a commemorative medal.

 

Each participating team is encouraged to raise money for their own nominated charity, yes your choice – this can be either by sponsorship or by a fixed donation to each player.  If sponsorship is the chosen method then an idea would be so much money a point in each match played.  It’s easy to see that this method can bring in tremendous amounts for each team, as well as having good fun in achieving it.  You don’t even have to win to help your favourite charity or concern – it’s as easy as that.  If you need a sponsorship form or need help with designing one just ask “Rory” when you register when calling either 01937 574213 or 0845 8339529.
