The weather smiled on the Wetherby Dickensian Market which has built up over recent years to become an essential part of Christmas in the town.
People were seen in shorts as they perused the many charity and craft stalls arrayed around the market square.

The event was officially opened by the world famous cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and the Town Mayor Norma Harrington. Wetherby Dickensian Market is a joint venture between Wetherby District Lions Club and the Sunday Markets. It is aimed at providing the people of Wetherby with an event at which they can hear music from the Silver Band and local school children, they can eat at reasonable cost ADVERTISEMENT , see Santa and peruse the many stalls for novel items while raising money for local charities. Lions Club President, Martin Doxey, said: “It is great to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“This is a highlight of our year which is intended to give some pre-Christmas cheer whilst raising money for the Senior Citizen’s Party in January. “It is a mark of the strength of our community that so many good causes use the facility provided by the Lions to get involved with the people of Wetherby.”
