Post Christmas Dinner success!

For many senior citizens in the area this certainly is the highlight of the year and this year's event did not disappoint. Now in its 25th year this year's post Christmas dinner and entertainment afternoon was once again held at Wetherby High School from 12-3.30 p.m.

With over 170 guests , over 100 helpers including Lion members , their partners , local scout , guides and brownie packs , The Mayor of Wetherby , local M.P. Alec Shelbrooke and for the first time , The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds the event was better than ever ! Due to the generosity of the people of Wetherby with their donations at The Dickensian Market and Santa's Sleigh in December and the generosity of local businesses and individuals all costs were met including the fantastic meal , raffle and bingo prizes with all guests going home with a gift for the first time also. It really was a special event showing what Lions do best - serving the needs of local people.

As The Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds said when the were serving our guests their lunch ........."Why have we never been invited to this event before ? It's the best event we've been to for ages!"

Already planning has begun for January 2018's event but next Wetherby Lions have their Beer Festival in May and our Duck Race in June. If anyone or any local business would like to help with these events please make contact via our fantastic website. We look forward to hearing from you and continuing serving the needs of local people.
