WETHERBY’S own 'Jersey Boys' (and girls) are aiming to be chart toppers when May’s Wetherby Beer Festival comes to town.

The Wetherby Lions-backed event is appropriately adopting a cycling theme, with the summer ahead set to feature the Tour de Yorkshire among several other bike extravaganzas - now there’s a competition to find the jazziest cycling jerseys in Wetherby.

The thirsty brigade in attendance at Wetherby's Beer Festival on May 24th and 25th are urged to go along to the event at St James’ Church Rooms, Church Street, in their best cycling tops, with great prizes on offer. Thanks to Dean Buckle at 'Wetherby Bike Shack’, the wearer of the most striking jersey will be awarded a £150 voucher, with a £100 voucher going to the winner of the junior category. These can be traded in-store at this well-known Horsefair outlet.

All of the hand-picked great beers on offer at the Festival feature from breweries along the Stage Two route of the 'Tour de Yorkshire'. This was recently verified by biking Lion Nigel Keenlyside, who cycled from Barnsley to Bedale via Wetherby while taking in all the breweries en route. Now the best craft beers that the fine county of Yorkshire can offer can be enjoyed under one roof in Wetherby.

If it’s a party atmosphere you are looking for, make a date between 6.00 - 10.00 pm on Friday May 24th, when the Blarney Boys will provide the entertainment. Family day is between Noon - 8.00 pm on Saturday May 25th with lots of children’s activities as well as a Jazz band and award winning vocalists. All proceeds go to the Lions’ chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Make sure you come along for a tipple-top visit to an event which also features great food and rousing music. To make the annual Beer Festival an event to remember, everyone with a bike ride, bus journey or simply a walk is urged to come along and enjoy the finest beers the great county of Yorkshire has to offer - there are also prizes to be won. You can purchase you entry tickets here Cheers!
