Two New Lions Join The Pride

At a recent meeting we welcomed Andre and Debra into the pride of Wetherby Lions, they both bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, growing our numbers and helping us to help people and organisations in Wetherby and the surrounding areas.

An intoduction from Debra

Born in York, with maternal roots in Hunsingore, I’ve always felt connected to this corner of Yorkshire. From 1979 to 2022, I lived and worked in Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland, building a career in Marketing for multinational companies.

I have two daughters, born in Berlin and five grandchildren, all now in Switzerland. My eldest was six months old when the Berlin Wall fell but we were there on the 9th November 1989 to witness the first cars crossing into West Berlin.

Returning to the UK to care for my mother, I later took on a marketing role in Tockwith. Now settled in Wetherby, I always seek meaningful causes to support. I’ve quickly seen that the Wetherby Lions Club is an integral part of Wetherby’s fabric, and I’m keen to contribute where I can to its fantastic work

An introduction from Andre

I’ve lived in Wetherby for 32 years and have three grown up children and four grandchildren. Having recently retired from a career mainly in Financial Services, besides grand parenting duties, I have joined the Wetherby in Bloom and the Wetherby Christmas Lights Volunteers and also enjoyed a few more rounds of golf!

Having recently helped at a Lions event, which was very enjoyable, I felt that the next step was to become part of the Lions team and continue to help in the good causes that the Lions contribute towards.

They will goth be great additions to our pride.
